Who is Michael "Baby Boy" Henry?
Michael “Baby Boy” Henry is a music producer, however, he is not your average producer, he is also a songwriter, artist, vocal producer and recording engineer. Music producers are often the unsung heroes behind the scenes. In making a record, the music producer serves much the same role as a director in a film. Not one to sit idly by, Baby Boy has directed his own life’s path. He has been fine-tuning his God-given talents since the age of 13. Signed by the President of West Coast EMI Music Publishing, Baby Boy earned his 1st publishing and production deal at age 16, making him the youngest writer on the EMI roster. His career has continued to steamroll ahead as he creates sounds that are powerful, rejuvenating and commanding of your attention.
The supremacy of Baby Boy’s music coupled with his spiritual, God-fearing nature has allowed him to work directly with such well-known talents as Chris Brown, Usher, Kelly Rowland, Bobby Valentino, The Game, Nipsey Hussle, Fabolous, Rodney Jerkins, Boyz II Men, Chanté Moore, K-Ci & JoJo and more. Baby Boy and his brother, DJ-producer Jason “SuperKidd” Henry also solidified the coveted spot of 1st single for platinum recording artist Lloyd featuring Ludacris entitled “How We Do It (Around My Way).” This smash crossover anthem was highlighted on Lloyd’s Lessons in Love album. Baby Boy has also delved into the TV/Film market by contributing music to films and TV shows such as Two Can Play That Game, Coach Carter, The Jackson’s: A Family Dynasty, Black-ish and its spinoff Grown-ish. He also had a guest appearance as a music producer on the BET show, Baldwin Hills.
Feeling unfulfilled, Baby Boy stepped away from the music industry professionally for a couple of years to work in corporate America for Apple. Even after his departure from Apple, he still hadn’t returned to music full-time, “I was on the scene less but I was still doing music. Over the years I had become unhappy and bitter from dealing with the politics and nature of the music industry. I was in a place where I just wanted my joy and peace back. I was in pursuit of truth, answers to life and fulfillment. It just felt like something was missing!” He considers those years a time of isolation that was critical, as it served as a training ground that refreshed both his purpose and spiritual development. That season would soon birth a new momentum, greater vision, and a tenacious, impenetrable spirit in Baby Boy – an unparalleled resurgence that mirrors his spiritual faith-walk.
Baby Boy works in an industry where it is cool to be hard, thuggish, and rough around all of the edges. Where it is OK to talk, dress and behave virtually any way you want when you are a celebrity. However, he chooses to carry himself and showcase an uncompromising, consistent faith-based lifestyle, which permeates his music and brand, thus distinguishing himself in the business. Baby Boy leads and inspires others through his music, his words and lifestyle. He desires to reach generations Y, Z and those to come, with a balanced message of truth when it comes to pursuing your dreams, goals and living a mentally, emotionally and spiritually healthy life.
Michael “Baby Boy” Henry is a breath of fresh air and musically, a force to be reckoned with. He is whom you call upon when you want Billboard chart-topping SMASHES! His unique musical ability to authentically cross over between various genres and styles of music separates him from the oversaturated majority and puts him in a class of his own. Perhaps this is due to his Belizean heritage, but whatever the reason, Baby Boy is poised to become the industries’ next SUPER-producer and undoubtedly an influential household name who is blazing fresh new trails for those coming behind him.
